Play Tetris Free — No Download
The block-stacking classic, rebuilt with a smooth canvas renderer, glowing pieces, ghost-piece landing preview, hold, and a fair 7-bag piece randomizer — the same system modern Tetris games use so you never get an unlucky run of the same piece.
Controls
- ← → — move the piece left or right
- ↓ — soft drop (move down faster, small score bonus)
- ↑ or X — rotate clockwise, Z — rotate counter-clockwise
- Space — hard drop (instantly slam the piece down)
- C — hold the current piece for later (once per piece)
- P — pause
How Scoring Works
- Single line: 100 × level
- Double: 300 × level
- Triple: 500 × level
- Tetris (4 lines at once): 800 × level — the biggest reward in the game
- Every 10 lines cleared advances you a level, and pieces fall faster
Strategy Tips
- Keep the stack flat — avoid leaving deep, narrow holes only an I-piece can fill
- Save the I-piece using Hold when you can, for Tetrises (4-line clears) worth the most points
- Watch the ghost piece — the translucent outline shows exactly where a hard drop will land
- Plan around the Next preview, not just the piece you're currently placing
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 7-bag randomizer? Instead of pure random piece selection, all 7 piece types are shuffled into a "bag" and dealt out before reshuffling — so you're guaranteed one of each piece every 7 drops, never an unlucky 10-piece drought of the same shape.
Does my high score save? Yes — saved locally in your browser and it persists between visits.
Can I undo a hold? No, but you can hold again on your next piece once the current one locks.
Can I play on mobile? Yes — on-screen controls appear automatically on smaller screens.
